Where Voices Meet: Landscapes of Language, Memory, and Sound invites audiences into a reflective space where photography, film, and sound come together to explore how language shapes who we are.

Rooted in our curatorial interest in the ties between self-identity and the ways we speak, remember, and listen, the exhibition brings forward the idea that language is not fixed—it shifts as we move through cultures, inherit memories, and encounter new communities. In a country like Switzerland, where national languages, regional dialects, and migrant mother tongues coexist, linguistic diversity becomes a living landscape through which belonging is continually formed.

Through Julia Wimmerlin’s photographic journey into the complexities of Ukrainian linguistic identity, Yannick Mosimann’s poetic film celebrating Swiss dialects, and Marie-Cécile Reber’s sound work echoing the fragility and beauty of Romansh, the exhibition creates a meeting place for voices that might otherwise remain separate. Developed in collaboration with USB, a non-profit supporting migrants and fostering cultural exchange, Where Voices Meet opens a shared room where visitors are invited to listen closely, reflect deeply, and consider how language—spoken, remembered, or heard—shapes both personal identity and the collective imagination.
